I just answered the last of a bunch of emails on yesterday's quiz question where Air Supply was the only pure 80's group to begin their career with seven consecutive top 10 songs on the Billboard Hot 100. No group did that in the 70's but the Lovin Spoonful and Gary Lewis & The Playboys did it in the 60's. I was asked about the Beatles as to why it didn't happen for them. While their Capitol releases came out early in 1964, there was also songs that came out on the Atco, MGM, Swan and Vee-Jay labels (old recordings from 1961-63) that all jumped on the charts in February and March of 1964 that did not go top 10.
Adele's album "21" is #1 again this week on Billboard. This album has spent the most weeks at #1 (16) of any album released this century. I'll have a line of questions this week about some of the longest running #1 albums in the history of Rock n' Roll.
A busy Saturday, I am off shortly to MC the Big 12 Conference Cheerleading Championships. My 4th year doing that job. It is a great event.
Then tonight, it's the Central High School Music Boosters annual trivia night fundraiser. 100 terrific questions for teams to answer. The questions are locked away somewhere and I (the MC) will not even see them until I read them for the first time to the teams. So we'll see how many names I stumble on...........a fun event and I appreciate being asked again this year to MC this.
Have a great weekend!
