The U of I Sousa Archives and Center for American Music will continute the display World War 1 with America's March King. This exhibit explores Sousa’s musical contributions to America’s war effort and how this music reflected the era. Exhibit runs March 17th 2014-May 6th 2015. On September 16th the Spurlock Museum will open it's Fall Exhibit 'Artists of the Loom: Maya Weavers of Guatemala. This exhibit of over 90 textiles celebrates the artistry of the Maya weaving tradition. The exhibit will be on display through January 25th and is free during Museum Hours. It's the 30th Annual Carle Salvation Army Toy Drive. Drop off and donate a toy, cash or gift card to any Carle location, Cassel Home Comfort, Neil & Devonshire Champaign or at our studios 2301 S. Neil Champaign. We will hold our toy drive thru at the Carle on South Mattis, just south of Kirby on Wednesday December 10th from 7am-6pm. You can drive thru and make a donation.
The Chamapign Center Partnership along with the Champaign Park District are brining Trolley Rides to Center City. Every Saturday in December before Christmas ride the trolley from 3-5pm Pick Up and drop off is in front of the Orpheum Children's Museum. Riders will enjoy hot chocolate and cookies as well as local performers throughout the ride.
Also look for holiday elves hidden in local center city businesses now through December 22nd. Find all 12 elves and you will be entered to win a prize box filled with gifts from local businesses. Completed game cards can be dropped off at the IDEA Store, Hyatt Place or the News-Gazette.
