Summer at the Station 2010
The Celebration Company at the Station Theatre announces its summer season: Summer at the Station 2010, which runs from June 3 through August 7.
The first show of the summer season is Picasso at the Lapin Agile by legendary comedian Steve Martin and directed by Mikel Matthews, Jr. The play is about a meeting between Albert Einstein, Pablo Picasso, and a time traveling stranger at the dawn of the last century. Martin's tale about the space between talent and genius is rounded out by the regulars of a little bistro called the Lapin Agile who have a hard time appreciating the difference between these men of genius and themselves.
The second show of the summer season will be Ug,the Caveman Musical directed by David B. Barkley, with musical direction by Alex Smith. Ug’s book is by Jim Geoghan with music and lyrics by Rick Rhodes, Jim Geoghan and Vivian Rhodes. Ug takes a hilarious look at a caveman’s invention of theater. This look at the acting game through the eyes of prehistoric cave people will leave audiences wanting more.
The final show of the summer is The Little Dog Laughed by Douglas Carter Beane, directed by Mathew Green. The Little Dog Laughed is about our national pastime: Celebrity Gossip. Mitchell, an up-and-coming Hollywood actor, wants only two things: a great role . . . and to come out of the closet. Secrets, confusion, love and laughter are all a part of this wickedly funny play. Recommended for mature audiences.
Production dates for shows for Summer at the Station will be as follows: Picasso at the Lapin Agile runs from June 3 through June 19; Ug, the Caveman Musical will be performed from July 1 through July 17 and The Little Dog Laughed will run from July 29 through August 7.
All shows start at 8PM and admission is $8 on Wednesdays, $10 on Thursdays and Sundays and $15 on Fridays and Saturdays. Reservations may be made by calling 384-4000. The theatre is located at 223 N.
