Songfest at St Matthew Lutheran Church
On Sunday, September 19 another familiar St. Matthew Lutheran Church event
– Songfest – will come again, though with a new emphasis: “Songs from
around the World” is the theme for this event. As we’re connected with
people far and near in faith, prayer and concern, we’ll express that
connectedness as we share hymns from China and Cameroon, Finland and
Germany, Tanzania and Israel. The organ, band, bells, children’s Alleluia
Choir, and senior choir will lead the music, but we, the attendees, get to
sing and sing some more. Our hymnal which is full of music from our
fellow Christians around the world is our resource book for this event.
As well as a fresh theme, this Songfest will have a different format.
We’ll have a potluck meal at 5 and sing from 6 to 7 p.m. This change in
schedule is to make it possible for families with smaller children to be
part of the event yet still be home early enough to get ready for school
the next morning.
