Dave Loane

As the play-by-play announcer for the University of Illinois the past 18 years, Dave Loane has covered Illini men's and women's basketball, volleyball and baseball. Loane, who has also served as the play-by-play voice of the Big Ten volleyball television package for the past eight years, is the sports director at NewsTalk 1400 WDWS-AM in Champaign-Urbana, where he anchors the daily sportscasts on the morning show and has hosted the weeknight "SportsTalk" show. Additionally, he also produces the daily feature "Illini Today," which airs on the Illini Sports Network statewide. In 2005,Loane was named the winner of the Women's Basketball Coaches

Association's Mel Greenberg Media Award for displaying a commitment to

Women's basketball and to advancing the role of the media in the women's game.
